In 2024, CSSC Ship Electric Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "SETH") has achieved remarkable success in the international marine market, securing over 60 ship sets orders from overseas ship-owners. This significant accomplishment highlights the company's growing influence in both domestic and global marine sectors. Renowned for its robust technical expertise, superior manufacturing standards, and cost-effective services, SETH has gained substantial recognition across various markets, including Europe and Southeast Asia.
As early as 2021, SETH cooperated with China Merchants Jinling Dingheng Shipbuilding (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd. to deliver a comprehensive shaft-generated hybrid power system for two 15000DWT chemical tankers commissioned by Swedish ship-owner Terntank. This pioneering project utilized SETH's advanced DC-Link System, which seamlessly integrates the S-shaft power system (with a capacity of 1,000 kW), the diesel generator set, and a battery power system (featuring a 424 kWh battery capacity), enabling smooth modal transitions. The vessels were classed by BV. This project marked SETH as the first new energy power system integrator and key equipment manufacturer to successfully export such innovative technology, further solidifying its leadership in the marine industry.
Over the two years since the project's completion, the S-Shaft hybrid power system has demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving substantial energy savings that have earned high praise from the ship owner. Notably, in 2023 SETH secured a follow-up contract to supply hybrid power systems for three additional 15000DWT wind-power assisted chemical tankers, with an option for a fourth vessel. This repeat order underscores the strong trust and confidence that Terntank, the Swedish ship owner, has in SETH's expertise and reliability, further cementing a long-term partnership between the two companies.
Swedish ship-owner Terntank is a leading tanker operator in the North Sea and Baltic Sea with 10 ice-strengthened vessels.
Building on the success of the Swedish project, SETH has earned a strong reputation among the shipyards within the China Merchants Group. In 2023, SETH was entrusted to provide S-shaft power generation system services for 4+4 7,000 PCTC dual-fuel car carriers constructed by China Merchants Jinling Shipbuilding (Weihai) Co., Ltd. These vessels, financed by Norwegian ship owner Global Auto Carriers AS and classed by DNV, are equipped with SETH advanced S-Shaft in-line PM shaft generator, boasting a shaft power of 1,200 kW. The first four vessels are scheduled for delivery between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the fourth quarter of 2026, while the first three of the subsequent four vessels are expected to be delivered in 2027, with the final vessel slated for delivery in 2028. This project further solidifies SETH position as a trusted provider of innovative marine power solutions.
In the same year, SETH cooperated with Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry Co., Ltd. to provide 800kW S-shaft power system for 6+6 49000DWT chemical tankers of German shipowner Hartree Partners LP, and the ships were classed by ABS.
At the beginning of 2024, SETH's overseas ship market has flourished, showcasing a vibrant expansion. The company has been supplying core equipment for ship power systems and delivering comprehensive power system integration services to ship owners across France, Indonesia, Singapore, and other countries. These projects span a diverse range of vessel types, including asphalt tanker, container vessel, offshore vessels, and platform supply vessels (PSVs), further solidifying SETH's global footprint and expertise in the marine industry.

After more than three years of market development, SETH has successfully transitioned from being the first domestic power system integrator and key equipment manufacturer for export to becoming a globally recognized player in the international marine market. This transformation marks its official evolution into an international equipment manufacturing enterprise, fully prepared for a comprehensive entry into the global marine sector. Currently, SETH boasts a unified global after-sales service network spanning numerous countries and regions, ensuring convenient and efficient customer support. The company has also successfully expanded its services from traditional shaft power generation technology to innovative new energy power solutions for marine transport. Once again, Chinese manufacturing has captured the favor of overseas markets through superior quality, advanced technology, and exceptional service, setting sail towards new horizons and striving to achieve remarkable success in the global marine industry.
